GATHERING FACTS
Banquet - Enjoy dinner, entertainment and more beginning with a cocktail hour
(cash bar) at 6 PM (Hall of Tribes), and dinner from 7 to 9:30 PM
(Hall
of Tribes). There will be an opportunity to
win a prize during the Banquet.
*Charity Auction - Many wonderful
prizes have been donated for an auction that will be held in the
Hall of Tribes during the
Closing Ceremony. All auction
proceeds will go to our two charities - the Ronald McDonald House of
Minnesota and the Hastings Lewis House. See the Charity Auction List for
the items you may bid on in the auction. The items for the Charity
Auction are on display in the Miami
Room.
*Closing Ceremonies - This is the final activity of the convention on
Sunday morning in the Hall of Tribes following breakfast. During the closing ceremony
the following will happen: the Display Contest winners will be
announced, raffle numbers drawn, the charity auction will take place,
and speakers from Department 56, Ronald McDonald House, and the Hastings
Lewis House will be presented.
*The Charity Auction &
the Closing Ceremonies will be open to all convention attendees after the breakfast,
approximately 9:30 AM. Hall of Tribes.
Club Display Contest - NCC Clubs from
across the US and Canada have built displays that can be seen in the
Shoshone Room. Winners
will receive special prizes for their club(s) from Department 56.
Dealer Hunt - Visiting our Sponsoring Dealers and you can win prizes.
You will receive one ticket for turning in your game sheet and one for
each of the dealers you visit the week(s) prior to the convention. A
drawing for prizes will be Sunday morning. Sheets must be turned in
Saturday from 1:00 to 5:00PM at the Information Table
Display Contest Exhibits - Here you will be
able to see all the creative ideas the collectors have put into their
entries as they compete for cash prizes. There are five categories. You
will be the judge for the People’s Choice Award by casting your ballot
for the one you like in the Shoshone
Room.
Event Merchandise - Three special event pieces created by Department
56 are available for you to purchase and remember the NCC 2008
Convention. These event pieces are very limited and will only be
available at the convention. Also, be sure to obtain one of the several
convention and NCC pin(s) in the Miami
Room.
Goody Bag - (Available to the first 500 registrants) The NCC Convention “Goody Bag”
is an attractive bag bearing our Logo and filled with items that you
will find useful during the convention and
after you get home. The committee has scoured the world for these items
to fill your “Goody Bag”. Many of our Sponsoring Dealers and Vendors
have included items that you will find interesting and may save you
money. Don’t forget to put your “Goody Bag” nametag on your bag.
Hospitality Room - The place to take a break from Villaging and meet & greet new
and old friends while enjoying some of our special treats. You may also
win a prize. Check program schedule for times.

Lowell Inn -
The Inn in Stillwater, MN where the idea of Snow Village was born over a
leisurely dinner.
Make & Take - Learn to make an item that you can use in your Village. Seats are very
limited to each Make & Take. Tickets to participate are $5 for supplies
and go on sale each day at 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the
Registration Table, Upper Lobby
Meet & Greet
with the D56 Artists - Here’s your chance to meet the artists that design your favorite
Village in the Hall of Tribes. Special NCC trading cards will be given to all
that attend with information about the artists and can be signed by
them. There will also be a special book that you can write your
suggestions for future Village pieces. Dessert will be served so leave
some room after dinner. Artists
will also sign your NCC Pin Shop.
NCC Parade of Clubs - All NCC Clubs
with members attending the convention is invited to show their Club’s
banner/flag and join the other clubs in a parade at 7:15PM.
Menominee Room
NCC Pizza Party -
The NCC is sponsoring a pizza party Thursday night in the
Menominee Room from 7:30
to 10:00. This is free to all that are attending the convention.
Prize Room
(Winnebago Room)
- The room where you can pick up the door prizes if your registration
number is pulled. Your registration number is good for the whole
weekend. Drawings will be on Friday and Saturday beginning at 10:00 AM
and continue until 3:00 PM. Check program schedule for the times when
the Prize Room will be open. Winning numbers/names will be posted in the
Upper Lobby. Any prize not
claimed by 5:00 PM on Saturday will be forfeited and used Sunday morning
for door prizes.
Raffles
Charity Raffle - This is the BIG
raffle for the extra special prizes! We have compiled a fantastic list
of donated items for you to take home. Think lucky and purchase your
tickets for $10 ea. or 3 for $25 and take home some wonderful Department
56 products. The items are listed on the Charity Raffle List and can be
seen on display in the Miami Room.
50/50 Raffle - This raffle will be held at the Banquet and
Sunday Closing Ceremony. The winner receives 50% of the ticket sales and
50% goes to our charities.
Tickets are $1 ea. or 6 for $5.
Room Hopping -“Room Hopping”
takes on a new and wonderful meaning at a Department 56 convention! It’s a time when fellow collectors open the doors to their rooms,
lay out the welcome mat and invite everyone to view and purchase their
Department 56 collectibles. Look for special pieces you’re missing and
see many items that may be new to you. Room hopping is permitted
ONLY during scheduled
times on Saturday. To take part in “Room Hopping” place a towel in front
of your open door and place a notice on the bulletin board in designated
areas in the hotel. NOTICE: The hotel WILL NOT allow Room Hopping activity at any time other
than the scheduled times.
Seminars -
Our various speakers will tell give you tips you can use in your
displays, demonstrate how a complete display is created, or learn and
observe various items Department 56 has in its line that you will want
to find and buy. We have scheduled the seminars so that you can see all
or most of them over the two days.

Sponsoring Dealers - These are the
dealers that have helped make the NCC Convention what it is and an event
for your enjoyment. They have provided various Department 56 products
that you can win if you are lucky. Take a look at our Dealer Wall in the
Hall of Tribes Foyer. Maps
showing the locations of all our Dealer Sponsors have been provided and
we would encourage you to visit as many as possible in your travels.
Swap & Sell/Show & Sell - Searching for the perfect
accessory for your village?
Looking for a new and creative way to display? Do you want your village to be different from everyone else’s? Did you miss buying that retired piece?
Are you searching for an elusive accessory? If so, our Swap & Sell/Show & Sell is the place you ought to be.
Vendors are eager to share their expertise and some will be
demonstrating their products throughout the day. The Swap & Sell/Show & Sell offers the collector one of the
largest market areas to purchase retired D56 items and non-D56 items to
enhance a display. Held in the Menominee Room - check the
program schedule.
Tickets/Badge - Your
badge will get you into all the day activities on Friday and Saturday.
Teal badges cover both days, Yellow covers Friday, blue covers Saturday.
The number on your badge automatically enters you in the door prize
drawings. Tickets have been issued for those that paid for Friday night,
Saturday night and Sunday breakfast. Your tickets will be used in the
prize drawings at these events.
Tiny Town -
Visit the home of Jerry and Marilyn Sexton in South St. Paul, MN. Jerry
has been collecting little houses for almost 20 years and has won
several national awards for his displays. The displays in his home and added on garage now total more than 42.
UPS - We have arranged for UPS to be on-site with packing materials on Sunday in the Miami Room from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help ship all of your purchases home.
Volunteers -
Volunteers are the people that will be helping at all the activities at
the convention, consisting of people from all over the US & Canada. It
is a fun way to participate in the convention. If you would like to
volunteer you may sign up at the Information Table. There will be a volunteer raffle for those people
helping, so good luck in winning and thanks for helping.
